‘Across the Deep Blue Sea’

'Across the Deep Blue Sea' is the story of a little man who wakes up to find himself bobbing around in a make-shift boat in the middle of a vast ocean. For him, it’s a breeze – there are plenty of fish to keep him company, he doesn’t have to make phone calls or answer a million e-mails every day and he can sail around to his heart’s content. That is until the storms arrive… Inspired by the works of internationally renowned mime Nola Rae, French physical comedian Jacques Tati and under-sea explorer Jacques Cousteau, 'Across the Deep Blue Sea' is a theatre journey like no other – comic, touching, slightly surreal and full of inventive mechanical staging. Featuring puppetry, physical comedy and just the odd squirt of water. For families, children and adults alike, this is an enchanting and highly popular show!

Lighthouse, Poole FREE THEATRE FOR UNDER 26 YEAR OLDS

From 16th February 2009 Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts will be giving away 40 tickets a week to under 26 years olds on Thursdays* as part of 'A Night Less Ordinary', an Arts Council England scheme in association with Metro , supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to get more young people into theatres across the country.

Tickets will be given away on a first come first served basis and can be booked over the phone or in person. Shows that qualify can be found on the Lighthouse website www.lighthousepoole.co.uk

Although schools, community groups and youth groups cannot make bookings through the schem e, young people are encouraged  to organise their own independent visits . A young person can book up to 6 tickets for one show at any time. If they wish to attend with an older friend /parent they would need to ensure all seats are booked at the same time so they can sure they are sitting together.

'A Night Less Ordinary' will help hundreds of thousands of young people across the UK realise what live theatre can do - inspire us, challenge us and help us make sense of the world. It's an inspiration that can last a lifetime.
