What We Do

In an event led by Activate with Dorset Theatre Promoters Consortium (for Dorset, Bournemouth & Poole), Bridport Arts Centre opened its doors to the first ever platform of new theatre and dance work from across the area.

The event was a chance to see exciting, innovative, accessible, high quality and surprising arts activity from established and emerging companies from across the area. Using every inch of Bridport Arts Centre and beyond, companies put themselves on the line to show their newest ideas and newest work. A panel of regional promoters, journalists, representatives from development agencies and venue managers gave companies constructive feedback which will feed into their development in partnership with Activate.

This platform was a key stage in the development of local companies and new work undertaken by Activate.

Kate Wood, Director of Activate, says,

“We provided an opportunity for local companies to make new connections and get their work seen. We aim to help develop the infrastructure for the performing arts in the area, and supporting local companies and artists is central to what we do.”

This platform was supported by Arts Council England and through a partnership of Dorset Borough, County and District Councils working with the Arts Council of England and by the Borough of Poole and Bournemouth Borough Council.
