Curious Arts

We run drama workshops specifically for those who do not normally have access to creative ways of expressing themselves, but who would benefit from the space and empowerment which this offers.

We run drama programmes which can last anywhere from an hour to 10 weeks or more and are created specifically to address the needs of those who are going to be attending.

We have many packages we offer, please call or visit our website for more information.

Move into Life

'Dance acquires its meaning by referring us back always to the world of mundane actions, to what these performers would be doing, were they doing anything but dance.' (Arthur Gell: 1999)

How we move is as distinctive as how we speak and lies at the root of how we dance. Our movement has its own accents and vocabulary but we seldom notice them.

Move into Life is a gentle, but powerful, way of experiencing your movement afresh and making changes. Free from style, find how your movement vocabulary changes with your condition, your mood, state of mind, surroundings and other people. incirporate these discoveries into your dance or theatre performance.

Move into Life workshops help you become aware of how you move in daily life. This awareness can liberate new subtleties of movement and meaning in your own dance.

Move into Life draws on physical theatre skills, a training in Amerta Movement with Javanese movement artist Suprapto Suryodarmo and on Buddhist principles of Mindfulness. The practice of environmental movement dynamics is included in various workshops and much of the training takes place outside in stunning environments: by the sea, in the woods and on a hillfort. As a performer, you will be invited to ask, "how do I leave my studio body movement ehind when I move into the open air?"

In the workshops you will be invited to br curious about your movement and to move in your own unique way in all kinds of environments. You will be given tasks and guidelines to follow. The workshops will always be stimulating, invigorating and fun.

Adults of all ages attend, including: performers, dancers, teachers and arts' therapists.
