John Barclay

John Barclay

Writer, entertainer and stand-up poet

A former company speechwriter and columnist on a local newspaper, I recently brought out a book of poems 'The Blood of Others'. I believe, however, that poetry comes fully alive only when performed. I have written mini-dramas, comedy material and a travel memoir, and appeared in numerous plays, variety shows and cabarets, as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe. For a year I was resident compere of the Thames Valley Revue Club. I have my own solo show, which can be tailored to the needs of the audience. I am happy to undertake writing commissions or to co-operate with performers and creative people.
