Arts Council England South West

Arts Council England works to get more art to more people in more places. They develop and promote the arts across England, acting as an independent body at armís length from government.

Between 2006 and 2008, they will invest £1.1 billion of public money from government and the National Lottery in supporting the arts. This is the bedrock of support for the arts in England.

They believe that the arts have the power to change lives and communities, and to create opportunities for people throughout the country.

Audiences South West

South West Arts Marketing was launched in Autumn 2000 as a regional agency offering strategic services and support to arts organisations and artists in the South West looking to broaden and increase their audiences.

The agency provided support in five main areas:

Networking ñ working with existing groups and looking to establish new relationships between artists and arts organisations with common objectives
Training ñ facilitating access to appropriate training for all needs and levels of experience
Advice ñ holding and disseminating key strategic information and tools to help artists and organisations achieve best practice in marketing
Data Analysis & Research ñ auditing and interpreting existing research to give information of real value to practitioners and commissioning new research to back up existing profiling and benchmarking of arts audiences in the region
Audience Development Initiatives ñ initiating, facilitating and managing pilot audience development initiatives with artists and organisations through out the South West

South West Arts Marketing looks to add value to existing marketing activity by empowering the extremely hardworking and highly skilled people who already do a very good job in attracting audiences for the broad range of quality work in the region. We recognise that there are very different levels of marketing experience and resources amongst the organisations with whom we hope to work and that there will be different solutions needed. Some of these will be very practical on a one to one basis and some will be co-ordinating strategic initiatives that are region-wide.
