Elevate 2010 - A great success and a fantastic evening.

On Saturday 9th January 2010 Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, hosted the 2nd Elevate U.Dance Platform for Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole. The event was a celebration of youth dance bringing together 200 young people from across the sub-region to perform in a showcase of youth dance. The young people also had the opportunity to take part in workshops with professional artists in Capoeira and West African dance throughout the day.

The platform welcomed 12 youth dance groups from across the sub-region with participants’ ages ranging from 7 to 21 years old. Each group performed original dance performances displaying an eclectic mix of dance styles; contemporary, hip hop, street, tap and physical theatre. The evening performance was a full house and we have received excellent feedback. Congratulations to all of the group leaders and young people who took part and thank you for making Elevate 2010 such a success!

A professionally filmed DVD of the Elevate performance is available to purchase priced at £6. If you would like to order a copy please contact Activate Performing Arts on 01202884340 or e-mail info@activateperformingarts.org.uk
